Adding Players

As a club director, there are four different ways you can add players to your club. You can ‘Accept’ a player that was a past club member or is applying to get into your club, you can add them manually, you can find a player that is already entered into the Signuptoplay.com system but has not been a member of your club, or you can import players.

Using Accept to add players

Players that played in your club the previous season, and players that are attempting to join your club this season can be accepted into your club using the ‘Accept’ feature.

Click the Accept Players button on the Players page.

Click the accept box in the accept column for the players you wish to add to your club.

Once you have selected all players you wish to add to your club, click on the Accept button. A message box will appear telling you how many players you have accepted.

Using Find to locate and add players

Players that played for a different club the previous season, that aren’t already affiliated with a club for this season can be accepted into your club using the ‘Find’ feature.

Click the Find Player button from the top of Players page.

Enter all required information in order to find player and select Search button from the top of your screen.

All players that match your search criteria will appear. Select the individual you would like to add to your club. If the player is not already committed to another club, you will have the options to accept them by clicking ‘Accept’. If the player is already a member of another club, you will not be able to accept them or view their data. If the player is already a member of your club, you will automatically go to edit mode.

If no players matching your search criteria are found, the player is not in the Signuptoplay.com.

Using Add to manually add players

You can manually enter a player into your club.  This is the most straight forward method of adding a player to you club, however, you run the risk of added duplicate player information.  You should use 'Accept' and 'Find' to first make certain the player does not already exist in the SignUpToPlay.com database.  If you are sure they do not exist, go ahead and manually add their information.

Click the New Player button at the top of the Players page.

Enter all information for the individual player unless it is noted as optional, then press Save.

Continue the above steps until all players with in your club are manually added to your database.

Using Import to add players

If you already have your players’ information in a database or spreadsheet, you might want to use ‘Import’ to import your players into SignUpToPlay. This feature is extremely handy for clubs with a large number of players, or for people that are very computer savvy that are looking to save a little time.

Click the Import Players button from top of Players page.

Click Import Instruction. These instructions will tell you everything you need to know about how to format your data to import your players. Detailed instructions on how to get your data into this format are beyond the scope of this help. If you don’t have a clue as to how to do it, we can only give you a few hints, then you will have to learn it on your own.

In general, your data needs to be in a comma delimited file, one record per line. Each line has to look exactly like the line shown at the bottom of the Import Instructions page. You can create this file using notepad (or any other text editor), Excel, Access, etc.

Once you have created the file, you need to upload the file to the server.

Select the “Browse…” button in order to find the file you will be importing into Signuptoplay.com.

Select the file and then click the button “Click here to TEST your data.”

If all data is correct and accurate it will not the import as successful. If data is not complete you must go back and make the necessary changes to your file, select “Browse…” to find the file and than test your data again. Do these steps until all players are noted as successful import.

Once your data has tested successfully, click the button “Click here to IMPORT your data” to do the import.

Players whose name and birthday already match an existing player will be updated, not re-added.
